An update on wedding things.

Posted by Lindsey Fri, 06 Jun 2008 14:50:00 GMT
So I'm still getting married. I know - you're all surprised. I think there are some people out there just waiting for the call to tell them not to come. Oh well - I'm looking forward to the snide comments.
On a lighter note, the bachelorette is tonight. We started off calling it a bachelor party, as well, but Adam's groomsmen are all old married fogeys and don't stay up past 9 (like us), so its mostly just my side. I'm glad its also Sarah's birthday, as she's bringing a bunch of people. I don't know enough drinkers to fill a bus any more! I'm just really looking forward to seeing everyone today. I do have some fabulous friends.
Wedding plans are coming along OK. I think we're pretty much set on everything, although there are some kind-of last-minute changes. I broke down and bought a (cheap) bouquet and garter so we can to the traditional tossing. I was kind of against it, as I always remember just being really embarassed at the idea of catching that thing, but I guess it'll be fun. I also am done with all the gifts for everyone and I think we have a pretty good set-up crew. The rehearsal invites are out and I'm just really looking forward to having this whole damn thing over and done with.
The house is 2 weeks ahead of schedule, which is a good thing. The bathroom (including my 6-jet bathtub!) is done and they've ordered all the countertops and cabinets and everything. We picked out a marble tile laminate for the kitchen and a beige shaggy carpet for the livingroom and bedrooms. We've been landscaping a lot and Adam is constantly reminding me of how much yard we have. We're just looking forward to MOVING IN! The flippers are talking mid-July, which isn't bad.
OK, I think I'm good for now. See you all soon!!!

Sharing the LOVE...

Posted by Lindsey Wed, 04 Jun 2008 20:40:00 GMT
I friend from my caving grotto sent this to me... I figured I'd share the joy!

"If you ain't dancin', you ain't tryin'."

Sorry for the cast-a-wide-net approach to this list. If you're on a couple of lists in my address book, you may have received this as many as 3 times. If you want to help stop global warming and save the environment, send those clean, slightly-used emails on to those you think would enjoy this information.

Here's the first pass a the Summer 2008 Free/Nearly Free music schedule. It is by no means complete. I just culled it from a number of old sources. Feel free to send me additional festivals/venues/corrections to add to the list. (Val? :-) ) Send it on to others you think could/would enjoy free or nearly free music. Some of the schedules aren't completed, so the festival/venue is mentioned, but the acts aren't.

If this is information you didn't want/need, or you're finished with it, please remember to recycle your used bits and bytes in the proper container. Don't flush it, as electronic data passes virtually unchanged through the sewer system, and can harm wildlife. If you have a correction, complaint, request for removal from my Address Book, are having a bad hair day, please send a reply to me. For your own safety, please do not hit the Reply to All button. I promise I won't pick on you by way of reply, but I can't guarantee that somebody else won't.

See you around!

Held at Brentwood Park 9100 Russell Ave., Field 4.

The On Call Band May 2, 2008 7:30-10 p.m.

With regular performances in the St. Louis area, but anxious to spread their word, Marty Spikener and the On Call Band are not to be missed. To compliment a growing repertoire of original music, and more creative energy coming every day, the band has developed a solid, exciting show that entertains your guests with an eclectic mix of jazz interpretations, electric blues, old-school rhythm & blues, funk and reggae.

Raven Moon June 6, 2008 7:30-10 p.m.

Raven Moon – Music with an American pulse presenting music from every American genre. Raven Moon has become one of the hottest acoustic bands in St. Louis. They put on an incredible high energy live performance. Their soloist put forth an explosion of sound that will have you toe taping and jumping to your feet with excitement. The fresh approach to the many styles of music that they perform has made them very popular around town and has given them opportunities to perform at the best venues and concert halls. They are true master of their craft. Come see for yourself!

Dangerous Kitchen July 11, 2008 7:30-10:00 p.m.

Dangerous Kitchen is the product of a group of freelance musicians who were tired of the same old gigs and the same old repertoire required of freelancers. Bassist Dan Eubanks decided to gather the best players he could find to play music that was creatively satisfying but at the same time infectious enough to get audiences involved. The band is currently made up of seasoned veterans ranging from Jazz, Latin and Old School Funk to something approaching Metal.

Autumn's Child August 8, 2008 7:30-10:00 p.m.

Global Chamber Music: a hybrid of world, jazz, classical and folk. A new acoustic instrumental fusion. Described as genre bending. Autumns Child was founded by Mark Holland, Native American Flutes / Composer. Holland began his own independent label, Cedar n Sage Music and has released 10 cds to date. Mark Holland has been called "the Jimi Hendrix of the Native American Flute" for being innovative in creating new passages for the Native Flute by skillfully showcasing the flutes versatility. Inspired by the beauty of nature - experienced in the musical color and texture of Autumns Child. The instrumentation for the evening will be Native American Flutes, Cello, Guitar, Bass and World Percussion. While Autumn's Child is based in Saint Louis they perform throughout the country having played this year in Maryland, Florida, Utah and Wisconsin to name a few. This acoustic world fusion group will perform music mostly from their own catalog of over 10 cds...mostly instrumental with some vocal pieces included from the early seventies such as Jimi Hendix, Brewer & Shippley and instrumentals by Moody Blues and Sting arranged by the group that stylisticly fits their own unique sound. The music of Autumn's Child consists of both up tempo and relaxing compositions. Perfect for a picnic or a glass of wine while lying on a blanket, looking up at the stars.

One Kindred Soul September 19, 2008 7:30-10:00

One Kindred Soul will take you on a musical journey. Authentic vocal harmonies intertwined with acoustic guitar rhythms draw immediate comparisons to groups such as Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young or the Eagles, but a closer listen reveals textures that take their songs to a new and refreshing level. Listeners say it best, "their music has a comfort and peace of home"

Steve Davis as Elvis Opened by “Buddy Holly” Saturday, September 20, 2008 5:30-8:30

Returning with fanfare after last year’s fantastic performance, “Memories of Elvis” is an electrifying two-hour experience. A powerful rhythm section is complimented with harmony, vocalists, and an optional horn section. The show is a journey through Elvis’ music from the early Sun Recordings through the latter Las Vegas showroom experiences. The show repertoire stands unmatched as the largest of any Elvis impersonations. Come experience it for yourself at Brentwood Park!
